The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office provides service to the courthouse by transportation of inmates from jail to court. The Court Transport Team consists of one sergeant and three transport deputies. The staff chosen for this assignment are detention deputies and have considerable experience managing and transporting inmates. The transport team interfaces with court personnel for scheduling of inmates to be transported for court appearances.
The Court Holding Facility is located in the Law Enforcement building where the previous jail housed up to 66 inmates. The smaller jail was replaced in 1998 with the construction of a new facility which houses up to 281 inmates and offers a work release/work detail facility with a 64 bed capacity. The smaller jail was renovated into county offices but the booking area, visiting area and sally port were remodeled to maintain the security of transported inmates while waiting for court.
