Reserve Deputy
The Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Program was developed to help our Patrol Division with extra manpower. The Reserve Deputies go through the same hiring process as a regular Deputy. They are then required to attend Police Officer training that is mandated by the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council. Reserve Deputies are required to volunteer a minimum of 120 hours a year to maintain their Reserve status.
The Reserve Deputies ride with regular Deputies and assist them with the day-to-day activities. They also assist with specialty functions and emergency situations as needed. Here are a few of the functions that the Reserve Deputies assist with:
- Security at community events
- Crowd Control
- Tactical Medical
- Dive Rescue
